TPS is future-focused. Providing innovative, real-world experiences prepares students for their future. In addition to multiple pathways to credits, certifications and credentials, TPS partners provide internships for students giving them access to experiences beyond the classroom.

Career Tech Academies and Magnets
TWO TPS Schools Receive Best High Schools Rankings from US News and World Report
U.S. News and World Report has released its 2023-24 Best High Schools rankings, and TPS earned two spots! Toledo Early College and Toledo Technology Academy of Engineering achieved a status as a U.S. News Best High School.

Toledo Early College school’s State Assessment Performance ranking is in the top 2% of schools in Ohio (15 out of 741) and the top 2% of schools nationwide (303 out of 17,680)! Read more from US News.

Niche rates TPS #1 and #2 in 2023 Best Magnet High Schools in Ohio
Toledo Early College and Toledo Technology Academy of Engineering were named the top two in the best magnet schools in Ohio by Niche.

The 2023 Best Magnet High Schools ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, and magnet school ratings.

Career Tech Highlights
In March 2022, TPS received $1.2 million in federal funds to establish electric vehicle training and curriculum. TPS will be one of two districts in the country with an electric vehicle program that will prepare students, current auto mechanics, and others in the Toledo community for training and certification to repair electric vehicles.
TOLEDO EARLY COLLEGE (TEC)
During the 2022-23 school year, 31 TEC students earned an associate degree.
THROUGH COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS
TPS students and their families saved $153,127
by earning more than
1,470 college credits
during the 2022-23 school year.
3 Ways Students Earn College Credits
College Credit Plus
Students in several TPS Career Technology programs have an opportunity to earn college credit through Owens Community College, Lourdes University, University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University for the work they are completing in their Career Technology classes and lab. To qualify, students must take the Accuplacer assessment and meet minimum score requirements. The grade that a student earns in their high school class will be the same grade that is on the college transcript.
Career-Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGs)
The Ohio Department of Higher Education has partnered with the Ohio Department of Education to identify career technical program content that meets standards in specific college classes. To earn these credits, students must successfully complete their CTE program and earn a qualifying score on the end of course exam. Credits can be claimed up to three years after graduation when a student enters a college or university program that offers the identified classes.
Articulation Agreements
Some Career Technology programs have college articulation agreements specific to the TPS program and a college. The requirements to earn these college credits varies with the program and the college.
Young Scholars Program
The Young Scholars Program (YSP) was founded in 1988 as an initiative of the president to increase diversity at The Ohio State University. YSP's mission is to provide comprehensive programs to improve higher education access for academically talented, low-income, first-generation students. In addition to support, recipients receive full tuition.
