Pre-Med & Health Science Academy

While COVID was hard on educators, it was harder on our nation's healthcare workers. Shortages persist across the country from nurses to doctors to hospital administrators. By leveraging local partnerships, TPS along with ProMedica launched the new Pre-Med & Health Science Academy. For students who have an interest in becoming a physician, pharmacist, nurse, therapist, biomedical engineer, or any other medical career, this is an accelerated option just for them. Upon graduation, students will have earned several certifications, with an option to achieve an associate degree or college credits toward a bachelor’s degree.

Aerospace and Natural Science Academy of Toledo (ANSAT)

ANSAT focuses on several growing industries: aviation and aeronautics; animal science and management; urban agriculture and agribusiness and environmental sustainability and wildlife management. With project-based, cross-curricular learning in a high-tech environment, students have the opportunity to earn college credit, industrial credentials, and employment after graduation. With the help of Dr. Durant, TPS is one of two districts nationally that have a partnership with Delta Airlines. Other partnerships have been established with partners like Interjet West, The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Toledo Metroparks.

Toledo Technology Academy (TTA)

TTA is a full career technology school for grades 7-12 that’s well respected within Toledo’s industrial community. The rigorous curriculum, lab classes, and hands-on learning prepare students for several avenues after graduation, from college or the military to apprenticeships or the workforce. Industry partners include Hale Performance Coatings, Sigma Technologies, DANA, General Motors, SSOE, Toledo Tool & Die, Surface Combustion and DGL Consulting. Students regularly work side-by-side with engineers, researchers, and scientists. TTA also houses one of the few engineering programs in the country where students learn about electric, water, wind, and solar energy systems.

Jones Leadership Academy of Business (JLab)

JLab curriculum focuses on the foundations of business, international business, digital marketing, and entrepreneurship. Durant was instrumental in opening of the Bloomberg Financial Lab. TPS is one of only two public school systems in the country to have such a lab, which brings Wall Street straight to students with 12 direct terminals to the New York Stock Exchange. Students learn how to make money work for them, while building financial wealth.
